Chinese security forces detain three Tibetans in restive Ngaba county for peaceful protests
DHARAMSALA, Oct 8: Lobsang Jamyang, a 15-yr-old Tibetan monk from Kirti Monastery in Ngaba County in traditional Tibetan province of Amdo was arbitrarily detained by Chinese security forces after he staged a lone protest challenging Chinese rule in Tibet.
Lobsang staged his solo protest around 4 pm (local time) on Sep 13 along the main road in Ngaba County town.
“Lobsang Jamyang shouted slogans calling for freedom in Tibet and return of Dalai Lama as he marched on the main road of Ngaba county town,” a source with contacts inside Tibet said.
He was detained within minutes into his protest and taken away to unknown location. His current whereabouts and condition remain unknown.
Born to father Choephel and mother Tsomo of Bhachoetsang family, Lobsang Jamyang was raised in nomadic village no. 2 of Meuruma township in Ngaba County and became a monk at a young age at Kirti Monastery.
Separately, two other Tibetan protesters have been detained around midday on Sep 10 by Chinese forces in Ngaba after they staged peaceful protest against the Chinese rule by calling for “freedom in Tibet” and “long life of the Dalai Lama”.
The protesters have been identified as Thinley and Lobsang but their whereabouts and condition remain unknown.
Thinley is the son of Tsuritsang family and Lobsang is the son of Tsitoetsang family. Both families belong to Soruma village of Choejema township in Ngaba County.
All communication channels such as internet and phone lines in Ngaba County have been locked down since Sep 10 and additional security forces have been deployed in the past month.
