CTA marks India’s 75th Independence Day
DHARAMSALA, 15 Aug: The political head of the Tibetan people, Sikyong Penpa Tsering has expressed his congratulations to the government and people of India on its 75th Independence Day.
“The Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) and the Tibetan people across the globe rejoice in the spirit of pride and patriotism as our Indian brothers and sisters celebrate the 75th anniversary of Independence”, the CTA President tweeted.
He also declared the Tibetan people’s gratitude to the government and the people of India for providing Tibetans “home away from home” and for helping Tibetans establish a successful refugee community.
“Our fervent wishes for India to scale greater heights of progress,” he concluded.
Though the CTA usually holds a brief ceremony at the Kashag Secretariat in the Central Tibetan Secretariat, it has to be cancelled today due to torrential rain here.
Hence the CTA President took to Twitter after hoisting the tri-coloured Indian national flag outside the Kashag Secretariat.
The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile who is currently on an official visit to Ladakh has also extended his wishes on India’s independence day.
“I wish happy 75th Independence Day to all our Indian brothers and sisters,” the Speaker has said in a Facebook post.
