DHARAMSALA, 4 March: Dr Dorjee Damdul, Associate Professor in the Department of Sowa Rigpa at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, was honoured with the Yuthok Award by the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine (CCTM) today. The award was presented at the Mentsekhang College Hall in recognition of his dedicated service and significant academic contributions toward the preservation and continuity of the Sowa Rigpa tradition.

DHARAMSALA, 26 Feb: Eleven days after the Election Commission (EC) declared him elected on 13 February, Central Tibetan Administration’s (CTA) Sikyong (President) Penpa Tsering released a post-election address on Tuesday via CTA-run broadcaster Tibet TV, acknowledging his first round victory with over 60 percent of the vote, crossing the threshold required to avoid a final round.

Chess is a game played in silence. And for Dawa Tenzin, that silence has always felt like home.

Born to Tibetan refugee parents in India, he lost both his parents at a tender age. Cared for by his aunt, he was admitted to Ngoenga School for Tibetan children with special needs. Today, he works at Exile Creations Private Limited, a Tibetan glass beads handicraft centre.

DHARAMSALA, 13 Feb: The incumbent Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Penpa Tsering, secured a second consecutive term by winning the preliminary round of the 2026 Tibetan general election with over 60% of the votes, thereby clinching the seat outright without the need for a final round.

DHARMSALA 3 Feb: The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, at 90, has won his first Grammy Award for Best Audiobook, Narration & Storytelling Recording for his audiobook “Meditations: The Reflection of His Holiness the Dalai Lama”, published on 29 August 2025.

DHARAMSALA, 28 Jan: The Election Commission(EC) of the Central Tibetan Administration, commonly referred to as the Tibetan government in exile, issued a warning letter to Dorjee, translator of the Nechung Oracle, for violating electoral rules and guidelines by making numerous political remarks in a clarification video with Tibet Radio regarding the oracle’s pronouncements on two Gelug spokespersons. The commission deemed the translator’s remarks as a risk to social unrest and the ongoing electoral process.

DHARAMSALA, 21 January: In an unprecedented ceremony marked by contradiction, the Gelug MPs of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) appeared for a mandated apology ceremony on Tuesday. While expressing remorse as instructed by the Nechung Oracle’s pronouncement, the MPs explicitly stated that they have never uttered ‘a single word’ of defamation against the Dalai Lama and never will, even at the cost of their lives.
